Classic black Russian with seasonal cranberries! A great make ahead fruity cocktail for all your parties.

My new favorite fruity cocktail!! With CAPE COD SELECT PREMIUM FROZEN CRANBERRIES available all year round, we don’t have to wait for Fall!

Black Russian is made only with 2 ingredients-vodka and coffee liquor and served over ice. It gets its black color from the coffee liquor. A variant has a splash of heavy cream and is called white Russian. Enter a new variant, drum rule please….

CAPE COD SELECT PREMIUM FROZEN CRANBERRIES are big and plump and they bring lovely color and flavor to any dish! It is a family owned and operated for over 70 years. I decided to use them to make black Russian giving it a fruity fall twist!

To prepare a cranberry syrup, bring CAPE COD SELECT PREMIUM FROZEN CRANBERRIES, water, sugar and few orange peels to a boil, simmer for 5 minutes and cool completely  (The cranberries get plumpy and look stunning in the syrup)

Stir together cranberries syrup, vodka and kahlua in a pitcher and store in the refrigerator.

Pour into serving glasses and serve over ice, orange slices and additional cranberries.featurecran11.jpgfeaturecran14.jpg

Pomegranate Sangria

An easy fruity sangria celebrating fall’s bounty!

This sangria celebrates the seasonal pomegranates. We are the lucky recipients of many freshest fruits from our dear neighbor’s backyard. We enjoyed baskets of peaches, blood oranges and plums all summer long:) Pomegranates is the latest addition to that long list!

Sangria is an alcoholic punch traditionally made with red wine and chopped fruits. It needs to be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for the flavors to macerate. So, sangrias are the perfect drink, if you are going to host a dinner party!

Pomegranate sangria is just a bottle of white Zinfandel, triple sec and pomegranate juice (I used POM wonderful), fresh pomegranate seeds, orange slices, lemon slices, apple slices and warm cinnamon and cloves stirred together in a pitcher and set aside in the refrigerator for a few hours.

Serve over ice!

Pomegranate Sangria

1 bottle  white Zinfandel (750 ml)

1 cup triple sec

1 cup bottled pomegranate juice

1/2 cup fresh pomegranate seeds

1 orange, sliced

1 lemon, sliced

1/2 apple, sliced

2 cinnamon sticks

4 cloves

Combine all ingredients in a large pitcher. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours (up to overnight).

To serve, pour some sangria into a serving glass and top with ice.

Plum Strawberry Smash

Juicy plums and strawberries smashed and topped with vodka, Chambord and soda. Perfect drink celebrating end of summer fruits!

I seem to have a thing for fruity cocktails! May be because I have a HUGE sweet tooth or I don’t feel all that guilty drinking one. Hey, it’s made with fruits so, it has to be good for me:)

To make this yummy drink, muddle some ripe plums and strawberries, stir all other ingredients, strain and serve. Ok, you have to make the simple syrup first. It is just equal parts sugar and water, cook until sugar dissolves and cool. And simple syrups are so versatile, you can add any flavoring to customize.

Pineapple Chili Margaritas

Happy National Tequila Day! Fresh pineapple, spicy Thai chili pepper simple syrup, Tequila and Triple sec makes one fitting drink!

I have been harvesting tons of Thai chili peppers from a small potted plant. It’s amazing how much a tiny plant can yield! These peppers add a touch of heat to the drink, without overpowering! Love the color of this margarita, bright sunny yellow with red chili peppers. Screams sunshine in a glass!

Simple syrup can be made up to a day ahead and stored in the refrigerator. Any type of chili peppers can be used, green ones or even sliced jalapeños would work great.

You could strain the pineapple puree, but I didn’t. My Nutri bullet did an excellent job!

Pineapple Chili Margaritas

1/4 cup triple sec

1/4 cup lime juice, freshly squeezed

2 tablespoons chili simple syrup

Pineapple puree

Blackberry-Ginger Fizz

A light and refreshing summer drink for both adults and kids to enjoy!

YAY! We made through an entire week of summer with the kids crying “I’m bored” only  6 times this week. Yippeee….

A good drink and Netflixing is well deserved! I think ….

Muddle 5 blackberries, sugar and some grated ginger in a small glass, until the berries are crushed well and sugar is dissolved. Thawed frozen blackberries can be easily substituted. Though we can now find fresh berries in all grocery stores throughout the year. What’s up with that?

Add lemon juice, muddle once and strain into a serving glass and top with seltzer water and ice. Serve for the little ones hanging around your kitchen 😊

Now, top with vodka to kick it up a notch and CHILL!

Blackberry-Ginger Fizz

5 fresh blackberries

2 tablespoons sugar

1 teaspoon grated ginger

1 tablespoon lemon juice, freshly squeezed

1 cup seltzer

3 tablespoons vodka (optional)

Ice cubes for serving

Add first 3 ingredients in a small glass, muddle well until sugar is dissolved and all  berries are crushed well.

Stir in lemon juice, strain into a serving glass, add ice, seltzer and vodka (if using).

Pink Russian

Friday nights are usually some kinda drink experiment and chill out with a movie. Is there a better way to end another hectic week?

White Russian is a cocktail made with vodka, Kahlua and cream. Originally the drink was made only with vodka and Kahlua and was called Black Russian. From black to white and now pink? Addition of pomegranate juice gives a delicious fruity twist to this drink and obviously a change in the color as well!

No, the drink is not curdled! If you don’t care about the swirled effect then just stir together and serve!

Pink Russian

1/4 cup vodka

1/4 cup Kahlua

2 tablespoons heavy cream

2 tablespoons pomegranate juice, I used Pom wonderful

ice , to serve

Add vodka and Kahlua to a glass filled with ice.

Slowly drizzle in heavy cream followed by pomegranate juice. Stir gently to get a swirl effect and serve.
